THAT’S IT?

I just wrapped on a Digital Strategy & Marketing project that has consumed the bulk of my time for more than a year. Of course, the launch somehow ended up coinciding with several other important deadlines, which in all have made my life completely insane for several months now. But, yay! I can finally sit down and write a few blog posts, clean my desk, take that long weekend, and clear out my Inbox.

So why is it that I can’t help but feeling a little bit of a loss even for such a big-win? It seems like each time my stress level should be dwindling my mind is looking for the next big thing?

Never Enough

Boom. Then almost immediately I am reminded these projects never really end. It’s why I haven’t high-tailed it out of here ditching my task chair for a lounge in Vieques and my Starbucks for an umbrella drink. There will always be more to do.

Keeps Getting Better

One thing I enjoy most about working with a small group of clients who share that same “never enough” sensibility is that I get to see the evolution of brands. I left a meeting super inspired after a conversation I had with someone I would consider a very successful businessperson from a family of very successful business people. I can’t remember his exact words but it was something like: his father always reminded him that it was all about “hunger”. The word hunger as it relates to business is really visceral and definitely hit home. I couldn’t help but relate that with my own experiences and to the organizations I like working with. The ones that never settle.

I got to thinking….the hungrier the brand, the better the outcome. It’s so true! My job would be pretty boring if all I was doing was reprinting something over and over again. Or just giving a website a little tune up year-after-year. Thanks goodness for hungry & fearless brands. It makes my job pretty great and definitely worth sticking around town for the next big thing.
